Steve McClung

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Steve is the new CEO at Hines & Associates. Previously, Steve was the former Senior Vice President of Innovation and Technology at Global Excel Management, as well as providing direct oversight of the cost containment/repricing functions. He was responsible for driving new products and services for clients – skills he looks forward to bringing to Hines. Steve has been with Global Excel for over 20 years and has held numerous roles, most recently as Assistant Vice President of Operations and Director of Managed Care.

Sharon Cody

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Sharon has over 25 years of experience in the managed care industry with Hines & Associates, Inc. and currently engages her professional staff in the ongoing development and quality of Hines Care Management services, including Specialty Case Management, Disease Management, Wellness, and Utilization Management programs. Additionally, she is a Clinical Nurse Liaison with MGUs and stop loss carriers. Her diligence in staying ahead of issues facing our clients results in program excellence and impressive outcomes. She earned her BSN at the reputable University of Iowa, and then practiced in NICU and medical/surgical ICU.

Derek Christopher

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Derek has worked in the information technology field for more than 25 years at various levels in the private and public sector, primarily focusing on network security and administration. Under Derek’s management, Hines has developed secure and customized health care information, including online reporting and file exchange for customers, as well as providing secure access to remote users. Derek is responsible for the overall IT strategic direction and operations of Hines, including establishing and implementing policies and standards that govern the planning, acquisition, management, delivery and security of all IT assets. Derek earned his bachelor’s degree in information technology from Colorado Technical University.

Tammi Thomos

Chief Financial Officer (CFO), CPA, BS, CGMA

Tammi has been with Hines since 2011. Her unique experience includes health benefit management and employee medical claims processing. Tammi’s broad skillset from cost accounting, financial analysis and process improvement, identification of business solutions, customer retention, and operations management support Hines’ goal of offering quality services to clients at fair rates. Tammi earned a BS in Operations Management & Information Systems from Northern Illinois University and later completed the postgraduate Advanced Accounting Certificate at College of DuPage. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and has earned the designation of Chartered Global Management Accountant from the American Institute of CPAs.

Charles Busch

Chief Revenue Officer (CRO)

Charles has an extensive career of Sales and Account Management leadership in the PPO, TPA, healthcare management, casualty claims, and health plan market segments. Charles spent more than 12 years as the Senior Vice President of Sales at HealthSmart and was responsible for the leadership of their Network Solutions National Sales and Client Service Executive Teams, as well as their Casualty Claims Solutions National Sales Team. Prior to joining HealthSmart, Charles spent over 20 years of leadership within the Viant Health Payment Solutions group of companies which, through a combination of mergers and acquisitions, included ppoNEXT, Beech Street, CAPP CARE, and Pacific Review Services.

Anna Hansen

Senior Vice-President, Solutions & Retention, BA, CSFS

Anna has been with Hines since 2002. Her experience includes over five years as a claim coordinator for a large group health insurance company and one year as a claim processor for a health and welfare fund. She also has over ten years of experience in research and management. Anna earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Northern Illinois University and her associate degree in health care administration from College of DuPage. In addition, she has earned the designation of a Certified Self-Funding Specialist through HCAA and is also a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefits.

Kate DePinto

Director, Utilization Management & Compliance, RN, BSN, CMGT-BC

Kate’s clinical experience is primarily in medical-surgical nursing in a wide variety of sub-specialties. She has been with Hines since 2003, starting in the Utilization Management Department and assuming the roles of trainer, QA supervisor, peer review coordinator and team leader prior and to her current position. Kate earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University, graduating Cum Laude and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is currently certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Case Management.

Karla Weiner

Director, Medical Case Management Operations, RN, CCM, AATMC

Karla has 20 years medical management experience with Hines & Associates, Inc. and currently oversees the medical case management department and promotes excellence in her role as Director of Medical Case Management. Additionally, she is actively involved in our Quality Assurance and Physician Advisory Committee and URAC accreditations. She has earned her Certification in Case Management and Advanced Achievement in Transplant Management Certification. Prior to joining Hines, she practiced as a registered nurse with a primary focus in oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago followed by high technology home health care/home infusion industry. She held certifications in Oncology and Infusion Therapy.

Madeline Hallock

Director of Account Management

Madeline has been with Hines & Associates since 1993, with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She has a wide range of experience in many areas of the company, which include Customer Service, Client Implementation, Human Resources, Peer Review Coordinator and Utilization Review Assistant. Her experience in the customer service arena brings the knowledge, skills and understanding to provide detailed customer assistance.  She has a Bachelor’s degree in Science of Nursing from the University of Puerto Rico and is fluent in both English and Spanish.

Suzanne Casel

Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness, RN, PMH-BC

Suzanne has 28 years’ experience in Psychiatric and Mental Health nursing, with nearly a decade spent in hospital inpatient and outpatient programs. An ANCC board-certified Registered Nurse, she’s been a part of the Hines family for 19 years, where she has held various leadership roles at multiple levels on Behavioral Health case management and Chronic Condition/Wellness teams. Enthusiastic about Mental Health education in her community, Suzanne passionately promotes Hines’ philosophy of positive, empowering leadership as Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness.
